This lovely example in Red with Brown interior trim was manufactured in the UK and destined US LHD market.
We hold a copy of the Australian Federal Government’s Import Approval # 7236/15 and dated the 10th of January 1992.
We also hold a large folder of documentation relating to it’s nut and bolt restoration and conversion to RHD.
To gain road registration in South Australia, the well known Automotive Engineering company, Motiv Engineering of Blackwood SA have provided a complete report on the conversion and registration process.
The current SA owner has completed his own servicing and has advised us of the following:-
“Further to our conversation regarding the service of the TR6, we have owned the car for 30 months during that time the car has been serviced by myself 3 times, oil change and filter, spark plugs, fuel filter and regular check over before any trips
Anything major out of my skill-set such as the carburettors tuned recently, overdrive solenoid and the overdrive switch, I left those to the professionals.
The car in my opinion is the best one in Australia, we are moving back to NZ hence the reluctant sale.”
The US spec TR6’s indicate a 2.5 Litre 6 cylinder engine with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburettors, giving 79.04Kw and 180.8Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheel via a 4 speed manual gearbox + overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears, effectively giving you a 6 ratio gearbox. Performance figures for the US spec cars suggests 0-100kph in 9.4 secs and a top speed near 180kph.
If you were planning a similar TR6 project at today’s prices, you would be spending considerably more than our asking price today.
This TR6 is currently Historically registered in South Australia, this is non transferrable. However it would be eligible for similar schemes in other jurisdictions, equating to minimal on road costs.
