We hold a copy of the Jaguar Heritage Production Certificate # 41112. Also held is the Australian Federal Government Vehicle Import Approval # 153744/1 and dated the 31st of March 2016. The current South Australia owner searched long and hard both in the US and Australia for a very sound example and finally found this unmolested manual one for sale in Los Angeles in late 2014. After having the vehicle inspected, he had it shipped to Adelaide. The ’72 year model is the Holy Grail of US ” Federal Specification” cars as they incorporate several improvements over the ’71 release vehicles while retaining the high compression engines and not wearing the later Nordel type Enersorb rubber crash bumpers. The family moved to South Australia some years ago and it appears the car came to join them sometime in the late 70’s. We hold remarkable documents all in German showing the early details of the car and ownership and also handbook and wallet. The vehicle obviously arrived before the Australian Federal Government implemented an official Vehicle Import Approval scheme. This is a matching numbers vehicle. Both engine and chassis numbers are documented and clearly visible on the car. Powered by a 1.2 Litre 4 cylinder air cooled engine, it produced when new 40bhp (29.8Kw) and 60 ft/lb (81Nm) of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures at the time of release suggested 0-100kph in around 27 secs, depending on the wind direction and the number of passengers on board. The vehicle appears to have all the original trim, seats, door cards and roof lining. It does however have period Holden seat belts that probably were required when it first arrived in South Australia. The interior also includes a wicker style front parcel shelf, which we understand was a genuine parts accessory for Beetles in the 60’s.   1964 JAGUAR MkII 3.8 SEDAN – MANUAL – 99,408 MILES SHOWING The owner refers to this as “Lady Rose” Presenting in Imperial Maroon with Light Brown (Burnt Caramel) leather interior trim. This lovely matching numbers example was built on the 7th of September 1964. We hold a copy of the Jaguar Heritage Archive Production Certificate # 41945, attesting to it’s origins. Original colour was Mist Grey with Red interior trim. Jaguar Cars Ltd of Brown’s Lane Coventry UK dispatched the car by ship in 1964 to Sagers Motors, the Jaguar dealers of Salisbury (now Harare) Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). The car was ordered for the British South African Police Force (BSAPF), apparently changing hands several times in Harare before being exported to Australia. 3.4 and 3.8 Litre Mark II’s were popular with police forces, especially UK country police forces in the 60’s. A similar model also featured in the infamy of the Great Train Robbery, both in the hands of the police and the robbers on getaway! The documents provided with the car show the car was imported to Australia in early 2005 to a resident of Crabtree Tasmania. It was later sold to a resident of NSW who in 2018 completed a re-furbishment and colour change to the now gorgeous Imperial Maroon. The current owners of the car are residents of Adelaide and purchased the car in April 2024, and named her “Lady Rose”. Powered by a 3.8 Litre twin cam XK engine, it produced when new 164Kw and 325Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed Moss manual gearbox with overdrive on 4th gear, making it a 5 ratio gearbox. Performance figures at the time of release suggested 0-100kph in 8.5 secs and top speed near 200kph. This particular Mk11 is one of the nicest presentations we have seen and is blessed with electric power steering which makes it feel like a modern car. Stunningly trimmed in Light Brown leather with gleaming walnut dash and window trims, it is just the perfect English classic car to cruise in.
