2000 Holden VT Commodore V8 Supercar — Gibson Motorsport GMS 009 Ex-Greg Murphy / Steven Richards — 2000 Bathurst 1000 Podium Car Offered for sale is Gibson Motorsport chassis GMS 009, one of the most significant and original surviving Holden V8 Supercars from the formative era of the category. Built in 2000, GMS 009 holds a unique place in Australian touring-car history as one of the last Holden Commodore completed by Gibson Motorsport before the famous team switched to Ford for the 2001 season. The car made its competition debut in the hands of four-time Bathurst 1000 winner Greg Murphy and was subsequently paired with Murphy and Steven Richards for the major endurance events of 2000. Its results speak for themselves. Gibson Motorsport Greg Murphy / Steven Richards | 2000 Bathurst 1000 Podium Car, Provenance. Public Legacy. The Final Chapter. A Lightweight with Real Pedigree & Verified Provenance Offered for sale is Gibson Motorsport chassis GMS 009, the final Chapter, one of the most significant surviving Holden V8 Supercars from the formative years of the category and the last successful Holden produced by Gibson Motorsport before the team’s highly publicised switch to Ford for 2001. Built as an endurance-focused chassis and debuted by four-time Bathurst winner Greg Murphy in 2000, GMS 009 was exceptionally lightly campaigned during its time with Gibson Motorsport. Its position among the final Gibson-built Holdens, combined with its major-event results, gives the car a historical significance and rarity that cannot be recreated. Its competition record is the cornerstone of its provenance. Shared by Greg Murphy and Steven Richards, the same pairing that had won Bathurst for Gibson Motorsport the previous year, GMS 009 finished third outright in both the 2000 Queensland 500 and the 2000 FAI Bathurst 1000. Equally important to the serious collector is the car’s remarkable surviving authenticity. GMS 009 retains its original CAMS Vehicle Log Book, documenting the chassis identity and competition history and providing a direct period-issued link between the car offered today and its racing record. Unlike many significant competition cars that have subsequently been comprehensively restored, re-shelled or reconstructed, GMS 009 remains substantially original and unrestored, preserving the physical character and construction detail of the period. For the discerning collector, GMS 009 possesses the attributes that underpin the most important historic competition cars: Bathurst provenance, major-event success, celebrated drivers, Gibson Motorsport history, rarity, original documentation and exceptional surviving originality. Its significance is finite — there is only one GMS 009 and only one physical chassis that achieved these results. As genuine Australian touring cars of this calibre become increasingly recognised as important pieces of sporting and motoring heritage, GMS 009 represents far more than an opportunity to own a V8 Supercar; it is the opportunity to become custodian of an original, documented Bathurst podium car and the last successful Holden of the Gibson Motorsport era. 1988 HOLDEN SPECIAL VEHICLES COMMODORE VL SS GROUP A WALKINSHAW SEDAN – MANUAL – ONLY 20KMS With a layer of dust and having been garaged for 30 years, this barn find is a unique opportunity to purchase arguably the lowest milage and most original VL Commodore Group A Walkinshaw in the country. EOI – Submit offers by Midday, September 30th 2026. The following story gives you a clear background into the existence of this vehicle: A remarkably preserved HSV VL Commodore SS Group A “Walkinshaw”. Chassis #082 with delivery mileage, and accompanied by an extensive and well-documented history from new. Original specifications show a 4.9 Litre fuel injected V8 engine, producing 180Kw and 380nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 5 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures suggested at the time of release, 0-100kph in 6.5 secs and a top speed near 230kph. -The History: Chassis 082 left the Holden factory on 14 April 1988 to HSV to be transformed into a SV Group A SS, and completed (and stamped) July 11th, 1988. This particular chassis was allocated to Charlie McCarron’s Canowindra Motors, a well-established country Holden and HSV dealership in rural NSW. This dealership later became a museum, before sadly closing in 2016. Chassis 082 remained amongst a collection of cars at Canowindra Motors unwrapped, before being discovered by its eventual first owner. The current owner worked for Bridgestone throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and specifically wanted a Walkinshaw, recognising its significance from the outset. Through these connections, he became aware of this particular Walkinshaw sitting unsold at Canowindra Motors. A handwritten note recording his name, the dealership and their telephone number has been retained. He travelled from South Australia to NSW with a trailer to personally collect the car and bring it home, where it has been ever since -Exceptional Documentation: more
